Wifi is at a premium and very slow, so I will add pictures later (when I figure out how to make sure other people can see them besides me!)
We enjoyed Shannon's company this morning, and after our devotional, went to see the horses while Shannon fed them. So cute! After that, we went to WalMart for an Atlas - the maps we ordered from AAA didn't get here in time, and I got John a watch for his birthday (yes, it is a month early.) We saw the cute alien drawings on the window of WalMart and then we had breakfast at Golden Corral... yum.
First stop - the UFO museum. I've always wanted to see it, and now I have. I was slightly underwhelmed, but it was something I really wanted to do. I had a good time.
About 10 we took off and headed toward Monument Valley. Along the way we listened to Paul McCartney and I asked John if he missed his turn in Albuquerque. We stopped at the casino across from the gas station for about a half hour - long enough for John to get More Chili's!!! We left down about $6 between the two of us.
John got a chip in his windshield which was horrible luck!
We went through a forest in New Mexico which was cool, and finally cut into the upper east corner of Arizona for a while. The dirt turned red, rocks were taller and bigger, and we enjoyed the cliffs and rock formations. We stopped in Red Rock in Arizona for a late lunch and I saw a cute baby prairie dog! There were several. The park was beautiful.
Finally we got into Monument Valley. Wow what a beautiful place. Our campground is right in Monument Valley. We grilled chicken and had salad, then went on a hike behind our tent. Wow, we found an arch! I climbed up to the top of a tall rock. Of course I forgot the camera, so I asked John to hike down and get it since it was close to sunset and he would be faster than me. He did, and he was. What a sweetie.
It's dark - ready for bed. More tomorrow!
