Day 19 - Lava Lands and Driving through Oregon

According to my sister, you can make comments to my blog if you have a gmail account.

The other day when we were driving, we started counting cows again.  In my family if you see a white horse you double your points.  John had two llamas on his side of the road.  He declared that llamas were worth 1000 points each.  Then he saw a white horse.  Not cool.

We left Crater Lake and discovered Lava Lands National Monument along our route.  We stopped for an hour to hear the Ranger talk.  We learned a lot about volcanoes.  What a nice bonus!

Oregon has some really beautiful views and a lot of flat, straight roads that seem to go on forever.  There is some farming going on, some hills that look almost desert-like, but have pine trees, and some snow capped mountains.  Later we saw hills that were brown and gold, with a green river running through it.

We spent 8 hours driving and an extra 3 at our pit stops, so it was a long day in the car.  We listened to talk radio and watched the road go by.

We got into Idaho about 6:00 and to our campground about 7:00.  Shopping, laundry and bed.  Tomorrow – Craters of the Moon and Yellowstone!
